The journey towards the POSH Act and the fight against workplace sexual harassment is deeply intertwined with the courageous struggle of Bhawari Devi. A social worker in Rajasthan, Bhawari Devi faced brutal retaliation, including a gang rape, for attempting to prevent a child marriage in 1992. Her relentless fight for justice, despite facing immense societal pressure and legal setbacks, ultimately led to the landmark Vishaka Guidelines issued by the Supreme Court in 1997. These guidelines laid the foundation for the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act, 2013.
POSH India draws inspiration from Bhawari Devi's unwavering courage and her fight for dignity and justice for women facing gender-based violence. We believe that by providing effective POSH training and fostering a culture of awareness and compliance, we contribute to building workplaces that honor her legacy and ensure that no individual has to endure the injustice she faced. Our commitment is to empower organizations to create environments where every employee can work with dignity and without fear, a vision fueled by the bravery of pioneers like Bhawari Devi.
Based in New Delhi, India, we are dedicated to creating safer, more respectful, and inclusive work environments for organizations across diverse sectors. Our expert-led sessions, tailored to specific industry needs, empower employees and management with a thorough understanding of the POSH Act, fostering a culture of zero tolerance towards sexual harassment and promoting a positive and productive workplace for all.
We offer engaging workshops, interactive modules, and policy development support to ensure compliance and cultivate a truly respectful organizational ethos.
At POSH India, our mission is to build safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace environments. Through comprehensive POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) training, we aim to ensure every individual feels secure and valued in their place of work.
We envision a future where sexual harassment is not just prevented, but entirely eradicated. A future where every workplace fosters trust, dignity, and equality — allowing all employees to thrive in a supportive and harassment-free environment.
Recognizing the challenges in the effective implementation of the POSH Act, she joined the National Commission for Women (NCW) as a Volunteer and Enquiry member where she actively engaged in training and awareness programs on preventing as well as addressing sexual harassment.
Today, she serves as a key member of Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) in various leading organizations, striving to create safe and respectful work environments for all and handholding many leading Corporates for their PoSH Compliance.
